I know that a lot of people who probably read this blog are probably wondering, "how do people past middle school continue watching these Japanese cartoons?" We know, it's crazy, but why do grown adults look forward to watching the Marvel superhero movies? Some people who are not even Marvel fans look forward to these movies because of the people starring in these movies. In anime there many celebrities that back anime and make it known. So, before you start to judge these Japanese cartoons check out some of the athletes and celebrities who watch anime.
UFC Stars
The UFC has a lot of fighters that have shown a love for anime. Israel Adesanya is the UFC middleweight champion with a 20-1 record. His nickname throughout the UFC is known as "The Last Style-Bender", which is a play off of Avatar the Last Air-Bender. (It is a debate if Avatar is an anime or not but it is in my book.) He also has shown reference to Naruto and even Death Note before fights.
NFL
Even NFL stars are in on the anime action. Here we have wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster who just signed a one year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Here after scoring a touchdown he referenced the anime Dragon Ball in his touchdown celebration.
Below is star defensive end Joey Bosa for the Los Angeles Chargers paying tribute to the anime Attack on Titan.
It does not just stop here with sports. There are other athletes and even celebrities that enjoy anime. Micheal B. Jordan has expressed in an interview that he was a fan of the anime Naruto. Even Zac Effron showed his interest in the anime Death Note. But that's not all, even women love to watch anime. Ronda Rousey and Ariana Grande have both shown interest in anime.
Anime is not just for young kids just looking for something to watch. It is for everyone. So, like the saying goes, don't knock until you try it. All these athletes and celebrities love it so I'm pretty sure there is a chance that you might find one that you like.
